Overmono Releases ‘Pure Devotion’

Words: August Reed August 7, 2026

First Listen: Overmono Push Further Into Emotion and Experimentation on Pure Devotion‘.

After months of anticipation and a steady rollout of singles, Overmono have officially released their second album, Pure Devotion, via XL Recordings. The 11-track record finds brothers Tom and Ed Russell building on the restless, genre-defying electronic sound that has made them one of the UK’s most celebrated acts, while embracing a warmer, more emotionally expansive direction than ever before.

The release follows standout singles including “Lockup” and the recently unveiled “Even Angels Ghost,” featuring Tennessee singer Kindora. Longtime listeners will recognize her voice from earlier Overmono tracks, where the duo sampled her music after discovering it during a late-night Bandcamp deep dive. On Pure Devotion, that creative relationship evolves into a true collaboration, with Kindora delivering original vocals that add an intimate, human centre to the album’s textured electronic landscapes.

The record arrives at a pivotal moment for Overmono. Over the past year, the pair have transformed their live performances into some of the most talked-about electronic shows in the world, headlining Glastonbury’s West Holts Stage, selling out London’s Alexandra Palace and curating Manchester’s Warehouse Project. Rather than stepping away from that momentum, the brothers used it as fuel for the new album, refining many of these songs onstage before retreating to Spain and Iceland to complete the record in isolation.

That balance between euphoric dancefloor energy and quiet introspection defines much of Pure Devotion. Across its 11 tracks, Overmono continue to blur the lines between UK garage, techno, ambient electronica and experimental pop, while expanding their production process in unexpected ways. Vintage synthesizers from the 1970s and ’80s, an old train announcement speaker and even a crash cymbal baked in an oven all became part of the sonic palette behind the record.

The guest list is equally considered. Alongside Kindora, Pure Devotion features contributions from acclaimed British poet John Joseph Holt and Paul Institute artist Ruthven, reinforcing the duo’s commitment to collaboration without ever overwhelming the album’s singular identity.

The title itself feels fitting. Rather than chasing trends or bigger festival anthems, Pure Devotion embraces craftsmanship, patience and emotional resonance. It’s a record built with intention, where every sound feels carefully placed and every collaboration serves the larger vision.

With the album now available, Overmono also begin their most ambitious live chapter to date. Their Pure Devotion world tour launches alongside the release, beginning with a sold-out headline performance at London’s Old Royal Naval College before continuing through an extensive run of international dates.

Whether experienced through headphones or on a festival field, Pure Devotion represents another confident step forward for one of electronic music’s most inventive voices. If the singles were any indication, Overmono aren’t interested in standing still—they’re continuing to reshape what modern electronic music can sound and feel like.

Standout tracks to start with: “Lockup,” “Even Angels Ghost,” “Slowmotion” and “After The Rain.”

Pure Devotion is available now via XL Recordings.
